Full Time

Our local authority client is looking for a Housing Business Support Assistant to join the Housing Team in their Newbury offices on a temporary basis.

- Initially a 2-month assignment but likely to extend

- Mon-Fri, 9am – 5pm, 37 hour working week

Key Tasks

- To provide administrative support to assist with financial management of Temporary Accommodation and general administrative support to the Housing Team

- To maintain and update tenancy files and records, using existing systems and processes and ensuring accuracy and security of information

- To raise invoices for rental income from emergency and temporary accommodation use within the Service Area

- To produce rent statements

- To record, confirm and produce payment plans as part of assisting with rent account management for temporary accommodation

- Scanning applications, related correspondence, and incoming post to the Council’s Document Management System

- To carry out any other duties which may be required, including flexible working in support of other Service Areas

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

- A minimum of one year’s office experience

- Understanding of Local Government departments and services

- Good basic education, ideally with five GCSE qualifications (including Maths and English).

- Good keyboard skills and IT literate

- Good working knowledge of English Grammar

- Good numeracy skills

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

- Good interpersonal and communication skills, including with senior staff

- Understanding of client confidentiality and deal with clients in a professional and caring manner

- Be a team worker, flexible and helpful

- Good telephone manner and able to communicate effectively with suppliers

- Self-motivated, able to work on own initiative and enjoy being busy

- Good organisational skills
