Full Time

Our client, a local authority is looking to recruit a HR Assistant / Officer. Initially for a four-month period but could well lead to longer roles / opportunities. The role is at present working remotely predominately but will include occasional travel to Totnes/ Tavistock offices so need to be located appropriately.


- Weekly pay

- Holiday pay on top

- £11.50-£11.70 ph, based on 37-hour week

  • Supporting the HR function across two authorities
  • Dealing with tasks relating to the recruitment process, including administrative such as drafting letters, and the induction process
  • Managing job and HR email boxes, contacting applications and aiding with the smooth running of interviews and offers of employment.
  • Supporting colleague in gathering data, formal meetings and investigations
  • Customer service tasks, resolving complaints and problems as and when arise.
  • Delivering fast, high quality customer service.


  • Previous administration experience, ideally with HR environment / department
  • Exceptional customer service skills, able to communicate with people from all backgrounds and also various levels of seniority.
  • Well organised, methodical and able to manage own workload, in line with set deadlines.
  • Experience working within local authority / public sector would be desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and orally
  • Able to analyse and process information and data.
  • Confident in all of the above responsibilities
  • Happy to attend meetings when required in person in Totnes/ Tavistock (in line with social distancing guidelines)
