Full Time Contract

Our client is looking to recruit an experienced Adult Social Care Lawyer to join their public sector organisation, initially on a 3 month contract, which could be extended.  You will be based at their head office in Truro although some remote working could be accommodated.


  • Between £55,000 - £62,000 per annum (pro rata) depending on experience, paid weekly

  • To deal primarily with Section 21A and Community DOLS work, with an expectation to assist in other Adult Social Care matters if required.
  • Responsibility for a personal caseload of high profile and/or complex legal matters.
  • Provide legal advice which can be politically sensitive and high risk.
  • To act as senior legal advisor and provide advice at Council, Cabinet and Committee meetings.
  • Be representation at Court and Tribunal hearings.
  • There may be a requirement to provide advice on areas of law outside the normal remit of the team.
  • Work with colleagues to identify and implement Service improvements, enabling the Council to meet its objectives and priorities.
  • Mentor and provide guidance on a day to day basis – deputise for the Principal Legal Office as required.


  • Possess an up to date knowledge of local government legislative framework and administrative law
  • Have the ability to evaluate complex information and apply knowledge of the law
  • Experienced negotiation, influencing and mediation skills
  • Ability to effectively manage your own time, good prioritisation skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Be educated to degree (or equivalent) level and possess a relevant professional qualification – Solicitor or Barrister or Fellow of Institute of Legal Executives, preferably held in excess of five years.
  • Ability to travel to meet requirements of the post.
  • Able to provide evidence of continuing professional development
