Full Time Contract

Our client is looking for an experienced Support Worker to work with service users in their own homes, providing cover throughout the night. Service users are mainly elderly, frail and disabled, adults with mental health, learning or physical disabilities and, in selected cases, children. You will be working throughout the West Berkshire area and will always be working with a colleague. Although the work is on agency/ongoing temporary basis, this could lead to a permanent role.

Package:

- £11.64 per hour

- Shift pattern of 7 nights on and 7 nights off

- Shift hours are 8.30pm through to 6am

- Weekly pay

- Holiday pay on top

- Friendly working environment

- Could lead to permanent contract

Responsibilities:

- To complete tasks included on the designated care plan, including providing toileting care, changing clothes & bedding and provide fluids and nutrition as required

- Contribute to supervision of service users suffering from dementia who may have a tendency to wander

- To encourage service users towards a degree of independence and to support those who have a tendency to neglect themselves

- Enable service users to take medication and maintain accurate records

- Record information on an observation/MAR sheet as required at each visit – ability to write factual reports

- To be aware of the appropriate action to take in an emergency

- Respond to emergency calls from Assistive technology and other calls as required on your shift

- Comply with all West Berkshire policies and procedures

Requirements:

- GCSE Level C or equivalent in English and Maths

- Ideally minimum 2 years’ experience and qualification of NVQ Level 2 in a Social Care setting

- Knowledge and/or experience in specialist settings

- Must have personal care experience

- Up to date moving and handling / food hygiene certificates

- Enhanced DBS check with relevant barred list/s

- Happy to spend time travelling between service users

- Able to make decisions on behalf of service users based on your own judgement

- Able to remain calm in difficult situations

- Willing to work as part of a team to ensure colleague support and continuity of care

- A full UK or EU/EEU driving licence
