Our client is looking to recruit a Transport Specialist / Planner within an Economic Growth service on a temp basis, ideally for 2-3 months initially. The office is based in Truro, however current government guidelines mean this role can be carried out remotely. Occasional face to face meetings made be required if / when social distancing guidelines reduce.


  • Initially a 2–3-months ongoing temporary contract but could well lead to longer term opportunities.
  • £450 a day
  • Holiday pay accrued on top.
  • 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday.

  • IT equipment supplied to work remotely.


  • Leading the strategic transportation projects across four towns and co-ordinating and leading a range of activities to include planning, unlocking and risks management to ensure successful and effective delivery unlocking development and growth.
  • Responsible for strategy liaison, feasibility, and development in relation to the transport projects
  • Ensuring constitution to the government key “shared” priority areas, these include safety, accessibility, congestion, and air pollution.
  • Also ensuring strategy and activities contribute and support social, economic and environment objectives in place
  • Able to manage and development of a transport business case and funding bid for major transport projects and able to deliver funding programmes and grants


  • Relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification or substantial experience within similar role
  • Significant project management experience
  • Experience of regeneration projects
  • Experience of working on development programme delivery across a variety of functions and services.
  • Previous success in leading the delivery of transport planning and strategy, ideally within local authority arena or other sector of comparable complexity and scope.
  • Confident working with funding programmes and grants
  • Sound knowledge of legislation, regulations, best practise and government policy relating to transport.
  • Significant experience developing partnership working, working with stakeholders and partners successful to enhance the reputation of the organising which will include private and public sector, communities, and voluntary bodies.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Highly driven and able to work to tight deadlines and under pressure.
  • It would be highly advantageous to have experience in similar role within public sector / local authority setting.
